GRANT MCFARLANE

Grant McFalrnae

Grant McFarlane is an accordionist and educator from Paisley with a wealth of experience in teaching and performing. Specialising in accordion, Grant has worked extensively with mixed-instrument groups of all ages, fostering a love of music and encouraging participation in traditional Scottish music. Career highlights include performing in countries such as France, Germany, India, and Australia, showcasing Scottish music on an international stage. In 2015, Grant founded Fèis Phàislig, which is celebrating its 10-year anniversary. The Fèis now delivers year-round opportunities for young people in his hometown of Paisley and across Renfrewshire.

Born & bred in Quarff, Shetland, her fiddling began at a young age alongside her sister &mps; brother, under the watchful eye of the late Willie Hunter.

She has toured across the world and has recorded and released many albums as a soloist and band member. She was awarded Composer of the Year at the 2019 Scots Trad Music Awards following the release of her 5th solo album; Working Hands.

Jenna is a member of Scottish fiddle band Blazin’ Fiddles and appeared on the Transatlantic Sessions alongside Aly Bain and Jerry Douglas.

SARAH VON RACKNITZ – FIDDLE

Born and brought up in Uig on the Isle of Skye, Sarah’s ambition is to preserve the style of tune developed in the 17th Century, typified by the Slow Strathspey, and the West Coast style of fiddling and to bring it to an international audience. She is a past winner of the Oban Fiddlers Masters and was also runner up in the Glenfiddich Fiddle Championship and the Young Scottish Traditional Musician of the Year. She has taught in the USA, Canada and in Scotland, where several of us from Auckland were lucky enough to be in her class. And she likes hats
